Beginning January 3, 2017, you will need both your MyID and a device enrolled in ArchPass Duo, UGA’s two-factor authentication system, to access the “01 Default” VPN group. You must enroll in ArchPass Duo to continue using the VPN. Without an enrolled ArchPass Duo device, you will be unable to log in to any VPN group after January 3rd.
This article focuses on connecting to the VPN on a Windows 7 computer using a mobile phone for ArchPass Duo authentication. Go to remote.uga.edu and login with your MyID username and password. Click Download, and the choose Windows7/Vista/XP. This will download the VPN client.
Once the download is complete, follow the installation wizard using all defaults (Next, Next, Install, Finish)
Go to the ArchPass Duo Self-Service Portal and log in with your MyID username and password.
Click the Start Setup button
Select the type of device you wish to add. This guide focuses on using a mobile phone, which is recommended.
Enter your mobile number, click the checkbox to verify that your number is correct, then click Continue.
Cisco Anyconnect Uga
Select the type of mobile phone that you use. You will need to download the Duo Mobile app from your phone's app store (free).
Once the app is installed on your phone, click 'I have Duo Mobile installed'.
Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone and tap 'Add Account'. Scan the barcode on your computer screen with your phone. Once it connects, a green checkmark will appear on the barcode.
Under My Settings & Devices, you can see the devices associated with your ArchPass Duo account.
It can be found under Start -> All Programs -> Cisco
When the box pops up in the lower right corner, type in remote.uga.edu and select Connect. (This will be saved, so you will not need to type it again.)

Type in your MyID username and password. For Second Password, you will need to use your ArchPass:
- If using the app, open the app on your phone and tap the key icon next to 'University of Georgia' - your code should appear and this is what you will type into the Second Password field
- For a push notification on your ArchPass registered mobile device, type 'push' into the Second Password field
- For an SMS (text message) to your ArchPass registered mobile device, type 'sms' into the Second Password field
- For an automated phone call to your ArchPass registered landline or mobile phone, type 'phone' into the Second Password field
You are now connected to the VPN. You will be DISCONNECTED when you log off/reboot your PC. To restart the VPN, click the VPN icon on your task bar and sign in.
